Micah Truman
· Founder and CEO

Micah is an experienced international entrepreneur who has been featured in The New York Times, Inc. Magazine and on National Public Radio. He has lived nearly half his life abroad in Africa and Asia and has seen both the beauty of untouched wilderness and the environmental impacts of a rapidly expanding human population. In creating Return Home, Micah is realizing a lifelong dream of creating a company expressly designed to ensure a sustainable future. He also hosts the podcast Dying: A Lesson in Living.

Steve Calson
Operations Director

Steve manages the operations team at Return Home and is the person responsible for ensuring our 12,000 sqf facility runs smoothly. As an engineer with experience in aerospace, automotive, defense, medical, and nuclear projects, Steve specializes in managing complex operations in highly demanding environments.

John has been designing urban and agricultural composting systems for 20+ years and is an expert in the area of compost microbiology. As president of Transform Compost Systems, he develops, supplies, and consults for composting projects large and small in Canada and internationally. Previously, he worked as a research scientist for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

Brie Smith
Funeral Director

Brie is responsible for all services, arrangements, and ceremonies at Return Home. She works to ensure each family is able to make full use of the unique service that Return Home provides. Brie has been in the funeral industry since 2011. Born and raised in Montana, she is small town girl with a big heart for serving others. She attended MCC’s Mortuary Science Program in Mesa, AZ and graduated with honors in 2014. She then moved to Washington State where she became a licensed funeral director and embalmer.

Peter has 40+ years of professional engineering experience, 30 of which have been exclusively devoted to the composting industry. Peter is a recognized expert in the field of aerated static pile composting and has helped develop over 1,500 composting systems for companies worldwide.

Nate Janser
Marketing Coordinator

Nate manages and executes most of Return Home’s public-facing marketing. His goal is to ensure that people are knowledgable about terramation, so that they can make an informed decision that fits their values and beliefs. Nate lives in Seattle WA and attends Tulane University.
